Introduction

Insights play a crucial role in business by helping users gain a deeper and more accurate understanding of their operations. They assist data analysts and decision-makers in interpreting critical aspects of their business and offer valuable recommendations for improvement.

One of the most powerful aspects of insights is their ability to simplify the presentation of complex data to the end user. Instead of requiring data analysts to navigate through vast datasets and conduct intricate analyses, Insight-based dashboard panels can be used to present actionable information clearly and straightforwardly. This simplification is incredibly valuable as it allows users at various levels of expertise to make informed decisions. For example, in traditional visualizations, isolating the root cause of transaction failures can be challenging. With insights, correlations are easily established, allowing for a customized, easily comprehensible view of the root cause and textual analysis. This streamlined approach empowers users of all expertise levels to make informed decisions.

Working with Insights

Insights comprise 2 key processes.

  1. Configure an Insight on vuSmartMaps is a straightforward process. Begin by logging in and visiting the Insights section under Explore. Streamline your insights management and effortlessly create cards that best fit your needs. Here, you’ll have access to both:
    • Insight Cards: When creating an Insight Card, you can customize it by providing a name, and description, and selecting the type (Text, HTML, or Markdown). You can also define Labels and associate them with Data Models and Variables to simplify future changes without extensive coding.
    • Insight Card using Templates: In the Insight Card Templates section, you’ll discover a collection of ready-made templates, including some that come pre-installed for your convenience.
  2. Configure Dashboard Panel with Insight Card Visualization: This section is your guide to adding and configuring new insights for panel creation. It’s your gateway to crafting engaging and informative insights for your dashboards.

💡Note: Explore HTML Template Breakdown and Markdown Template Breakdown to learn what happens behind the Scenes of the Insights.

FAQs

To effectively monitor KPIs, configure Insight Cards to display the relevant metrics. Begin by selecting appropriate data models and variables that represent your KPIs. You can choose to display live metrics for real-time monitoring or historical data to analyze trends over time. Ensure that the selected data models are accurately capturing the desired metrics.

If your Insights are not displaying updated data, first use the ‘Refresh Data’ button on the Insight configuration page to manually refresh the data feed. If the data still doesn’t update, check the following:

  • Data Model Configurations: Ensure that the data models are correctly set up and linked to the current data sources.
  • System Time Settings: Verify that the system’s time settings are accurate and synchronized with your data sources to avoid time discrepancies.

To create reusable templates, configure an Insight Card and then use the ‘Save As Template’ option. This allows you to save the configuration and easily apply it to other Insight Cards without having to reconfigure each one from scratch.

You can choose from HTML, Markdown, or Text-based templates. Each type allows for different styles and configurations:

HTML: For complex, styled insights.
Markdown: For simpler, text-based insights.
Text: For plain text insights.

Use pre-built templates like the “Table Template” or “Distribution Bar Graph Template” to quickly visualize KPIs. Customize these templates by linking them to your data models and adjusting the variables to fit your specific KPI requirements. This allows for rapid deployment of visualizations without starting from scratch.
