Gartner Market Guide for AIOPs Platform 2018

AI technology has influenced the evolution of ITOM intermittently over the past two decades, and AIOps platforms are only the most recent example of that influence. IT operations is challenged by the opposing forces of cost reduction on one hand and increasing operations complexity on the other.

AIOps platforms combine big data and machine learning functionality to support all primary IT operations functions through the scalable ingestion and analysis of the ever-increasing volume, variety and velocity of data generated by IT. The platform enables the concurrent use of multiple data sources, data collection methods, and analytical and presentation technologies.

Towards the end of 2018, Gartner released the much-anticipated update to their Market Guide for AIOps, covering AIOps platforms and how they support the application of artificial intelligence to IT operations.

In the 2018 Market Guide for AIOps Platforms, Gartner describes how AIOps has expanded, lays out the key steps for IT departments looking to gain the benefits of AIOps and provides crucial information for selecting tools and vendors.

VuNet Systems has been named as a Representative Vendor in the recently published Market Guide for AIOps Platforms by analysts Pankaj Prasad and Charley Rich.

One of the key recommendations Gartner makes in the guide is to take a phased approach to deploying AIOps and look for solutions that  ‘support the ability to incrementally deploy the four phases of IT-operations-oriented machine learning: descriptive, diagnostic, proactive capabilities and root cause analysis to help avoid high-severity outages’.

In the guide, Gartner also recommends I&O leaders should ‘initiate AIOps deployment to refine performance analysis today and augment to IT service management and automation over the next two to five years’.

This is in line with VuNet’s advanced analytics compelling features to address many of the pain points of enterprises, who lack unified views and end to end transaction visibility cutting across layers, namely :

  • Unified Visibility Maps - vuSmartMaps’s UVMap brings a revolutionary level of visibility into your IT operational environment to look at end to end business transactions. Unlike traditional service or topology discovery maps, you can quickly create business transaction maps cutting across applications and in- frastructure layers, with overlays of real time KPIs
  • Storyboards - Eases troubleshooting due to the traceability of the identified anomaly across the application and infrastructure layers on a single screen. The alerts dashboard provides enriched data on the same screen, providing the IT operations teams with the required context.
  • Root Cause Analysis - deploying analytics correlation to rank causal events to identify root cause faster and significantly reduce MTTR and improve user satisfaction levels.
  • Anomaly Detection and Prediction - Anomalies can be tagged to critical incidents or correlated anomaly detectors can be created that affects user experience, enabling faster troubleshooting across the system
  • Contextual Alerts - Using our powerful correlation algorithm, there has been a 70% reduction in alert noise that uses a combination of multi-dimensional attributes. Seamless integration of alerts with ITSM systems and auto-remediation for faster resolution.
  • It is designed for I&O Leaders and Devops teams striving to adapt to new technolo- gies, plan and build application service level maps, and to use analytics to surface business problems in addition to real time correlation.
